National Maritime Domain Awareness Plan

The National Maritime Domain Awareness Plan (NMDAP) supports Presidential Policy Directive-18 and the National Strategy for Maritime Security (NSMS). It promotes maritime security through improved governance, policies, and actions that support effective understanding of the maritime domain. The NMDAP is one of seven implementation plans that support the NSMS. Under the auspices of the NMDAP, the Maritime Domain Awareness Executive Steering Committee coordinates policies and activities that promote maritime domain information sharing, and mitigate national-level MDA challenges. The Director, NMIO, chairs the MDA ESC and provides staff to support this forum.

The mission of the National Maritime Intelligence-Integration Office (NMIO) is to advance maritime intelligence integration, information sharing, and domain awareness to foster unity of effort to protect the United States and its global interests, its allies, and its partners against threats to, in, or emanating from the global maritime domain.
