Global Maritime Forum Reports
The Global Maritime Forum (GMF) is a 3-day workshop where leading U.S. and international experts collaborate to explore complex issues of technology and its effects on national maritime policies and to formulate actionable recommendations for solutions to present to senior government officials. The GMF is organized and executed by the National Maritime Intelligence-Integration Office (NMIO) and cochaired by the Director of NMIO and a local partner or sponsor.

The 2021 theme was “Fathoming the Future: Examining Evolutionary Variables in a Multidimensional Maritime Domain.” The forum primarily focused on three topics: seafloor infrastructure and technology, climate influences on the undersea domain, and autonomous influences on the undersea domain. Participants identified changes that they felt needed to occur by 2040 to best protect the undersea domain and designed a competition to stimulate solutions to the identified challenges.
